I had a week off of work last week and decided I needed to get some stuff done.

I read over a few tutorials I found on Pinterest and eventually just decided to make my own. I used 3/8 inch elastic in the bottom. The cabinet next to the sink was the only suitable place to hang it up and it holds a tremendous amount of bags. I had a bucket sitting on the floor of my kitchen filled with them which is why I needed to make something else. It freed up a bucket and real estate on my kitchen floor which makes getting to my cleaning supplies easier.

Made with leftovers from my Ironing Pad and another fat quarter I had taking up space. Again following a few tutorials from Pinterest made this and also tested it out. I used cotton batting in between both fabric layers and pieced it together. Sewing the circle bottom was a bit of a pain but I managed and cut away some of the bulk from that. I would do this differently if I make another one of these. I used 1 1/2 inch rings I had for the strap. I had to piece the strap together since none of the fabric was long enough to make it in one piece. I made three lines of stitching to keep the batting in place.

I tested it out the following day on a walk I took. I was only outside for about an hour but my water stayed cold. To thoroughly test it I would need to be out longer than that.

I’m now on row four of nine for my kids’ quilts so I made a serious dent in them when I was on vacation. I also cut out more blocks for mine but I need to finish cutting out my scraps before I can start back to work on that. I bought a new cutting mat that’s double sided so when one side wears out I can flip it over and use the other side. I’m not entirely sure what to do with my old cutting mat as I’m sure it can still be used for something.

I’ve also been working on drawing and watercolor painting. Those images I’ve posted to my Tumblr page.

In working on art this past week, I have a need to make my own watercolor palette. I’ve been saving up plastic bottle tops to use as my containers (I have six saved so far). I plan on finding a metal box to put them in and hold them in place with magnets. I’m not sure how many of those bottle caps I’m gonna need but I would like to at least have 12 to start with.

Not much else to tell other than I’m trying to get used to being back at work after a week off. I’m hoping to be back to normal with that next week.
